I saw this article pop up in my news feed. Summed up hermits we're found to be attracted to the smell of a deceased hermit crab to try and take over the shell.

Honestly I've been thinking about bringing some sterilized shells with me the next time I go somewhere tropical and donating them to the local hermit crabs. We need to figure out a better way to live on this planet.

That is such a great idea, that is so very nice of you to help them. I always feel so guilty buying shells and my crew have all these shells that humans take from the poor guys in the wild. Especially when they mass paint them and just straight ruin them. If you do that send me a pm, I will send you some to take there also, I doubt I’ll ever get anywhere to do that.

The only problem with that. Os if they are pretty and nice like most if us get for our hermit crabs. They have a stronger chance of being picked up by a tourist instead of a hermit crab.
