do crabs pee?

Post by purplepincher » Fri Mar 01, 2019 3:27 pm

sorry, this is kind of akward, but i just have to know. post all bathroom related questions here.

anyway, i recently was watching acorn, and he was on one of his favorite climbing branches. then i saw a thick, yellowish-orange stream come sliding out from his walking leg, inside from the shell. i had never seen this before, and the liquid still is stained on the branch no matter how much i wash it. just wandering if i should be concerned. :tank: /8D /8D (:D :worthless:

They carry water in their shells and eco earth or leaf litter can stain that with tannins, also they secrete corrosive fluids to change the shape of the inside of their shells.

It could be a combination of old food, shell water, or bodily waste.

Wait, what? Does the urinary tract run through their face?

Yep, that’s right, and they are capable of flicking waste out of their shells with the extra legs concealed within the shell.

LOL, I like how the person posting the reply had to have a -sigh- at the beginning before explaining it!

This is a mild response compared to some of the past HCA discussions.
Some of the old threads are a trip to read; people could get downright vicious towards each other.

I had no idea that they pee under their eyes- I think that's a bit weird. And the fact that they use their legs to poop is actually pretty interesting. I've always wondered how they managed that! :D

They use their little legs to move the poop from the back where their anus is, out of the shell.
