Thermometer Hygrometer Question

Post by IcedPineapple » Wed Aug 07, 2019 8:37 am

So I've been having difficulties finding a thermometer/hygrometer that works for any period of time, I've tried 3 different models amd they all end up breaking within a year or less. What do you guys use (not too big or expensive please)?

My Accurite stopped telling the temperature within two months of my purchasing it.

So far my Accurite has lasted several months. For an $8-12 item, a year really isn't so bad. Considering it's in constant heat and humidity.

I've never had problems with my accurite. Do you have any kind of case or holder around it? We hang ours too.

I did not hang mine, it just sits on the sand and I move it around. I have another digital thermometer probe, so can still tell both temp and humidity.

I personally use this thermometer/hygrometer from ReptileBasics - it holds up really well and I don’t have to have the digital readout in the tank, which is great for aesthetics. :)

Funny story! After I posted that I never had problems with my Acurite, it crapped out and I had to get another one! It got knocked into a water bowl. Destructo crabs!

I use the ExoTerra digital combo thermometer/hygrometer. It has a remote sensor that hangs in the tank with the display placed on the outside of the tank. I’ve had the same one for... 6?... years with no issues, and have only had to replace the batteries once in that time. Can be operated in C or F. Memory function displays high/low peaks and valleys. Highly recommend.
