Warning: graphic photo attached

Post by Scarletfire » Fri Oct 04, 2019 7:08 am

I think one of my crabs got stuck doing crabby business, couldn't get freed, so left his shell. It was right in the shell shop area with two floors of shells, so I don't understand why he didn't go to another shell.

I found the crab on the other side of the tank; not sure if it was attacked shell-less, or just didn't make it without its shell.

It did take a little push to get the shell out so he was wedged in a bit. Redecorating today, but could there be any other reason that this could've happened? I've had this crab for 3 weeks.

It is possible he got stuck and couldn’t get his shell out and was attacked before he could find another shell. Did he look like he was attacked? Has he been acting normal before that? He could have been that weak and finally just left his shell also. I am so sorry for your loss.

That is so terrible. He was probably still suffering form the stress of being in a pet store (or a bad owner) before you got him so there probably wasn't much life left in him anyway...

I agree with RiNiKy506, it sounds like he got stuck and panicked.

Is he even still alive?

I've had Es do this before, I had a moss pit sunk in and there was one spot they couldn't fit through underground that I wasn't aware of. I would wake up to panicked naked crabs before I figured out what had happened. I'm not sure why they don't immediately take a new shell, and I'm sure some do, but some just seem to have a panic reaction instead. I think they end up doing abdominal injuries while rushing around naked. It's really senseless.

All parts of him looks.. Intact... For lack of a shell. He was one in a very small shell when I moved it into the big tabj, and moved to a bigger shell after perusing through every shell. He was very stubborn previously.

If I bury him in a flower pot, will it start smelling?

Another member did that, it’s a great way to have your guy live on. Xenocrab made a beautiful plant that they buried their E “Eddie” in.
