New tank and questions on setup

Set up a new tank based on extensively reading this forum, so thanks! 40 gallon tank, moss pit, 6” sand/coconut substrate. Learned the hard way the heating pat from Zoomed isn’t enough, i just got the Ultratherm, it’s otw.

Question is, in the interim i have a heat lamp. Hooked into an automatic thermostat. So my question is (sorry for the long wind up)where do i put: 1. The probe for the auto thermostat and 2. The digital stand alone thermostat to check everything? Close to the heat, the other side of the tank, middle? I know there’s supposed to be a cool and warmer zone. Just want to get it right-ish. Same question with the hydrostat?

Try to get your probes and sensors in the middle if you can for "average" readings.
