Moss Pit

Post by Steph » Sat May 23, 2020 8:00 pm

Hi,

I'm putting my crabitat together before I get my crabs tomorrow. Just wondering is sphagnum moss is suitable for a moss pit in the tank? Also do you just put the moss in the substrate or do you put it in a container of some sort. Can't wait for my crabs to have a play in their new home!

you should probably keep it in a container, and sphagnum moss does work for a moss pit.

Hi Steph! Welcome to the HCA! :)
It really boils down to personal preference! Some people keep their moss in glass bowls, some people keep it in baskets, some people keep it inside of cork bark and some people put it on the sub. I do all of the above except the glass bowl :)

Edit: You want to use organic NON dyed moss.
Truly blessed to have incredible creatures, wonderful friends and my amazing family in my life!! I'm very thankful & grateful for all of them! www.thehealthyhermit.com
