Half log mold
Half log mold
Help! The half log in my crabitat is growing mold! It’s not fuzzy white mold, it’s spotty black mold that’s sort of “embedded” in the log. I figure it’s because of the humidity and misting. My question is, is the log still good and is there a way to remove the mold or do I have to get rid of it all together? (I know I post a lot sorry)

Re: Half log mold
Most of us try soaking it in salt water. I don’t think you should throw it out though.

Yeah, I’m gonna try not to considering how much they love it, but I don’t want there to be any harmful effects on the crabs.

Re: Half log mold
Most of us think that mold is not harmful to them and just leave it. There is no For sure answer but we have all had mold and our crabs are still ok. Try soaking it in salt water and how it is.

To boil it, would I use marine salt or table salt? I appreciate your help!Hermielover121 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 17, 2020 4:36 pmMost of us think that mold is not harmful to them and just leave it. Re: Half log mold
Marine salt works. You can also use Kosher salt if you prefer to avoid the additives in table salt.
