Mom brought home a shell that had a hermit in it need help!
My mom was in Rocky point and accidentally brought home a hermit crab! I have four Ecuadorian crabs in a 29 gallon tank that are thriving. I used a Tupperware with saltwater solution to house the new one for now because I am almost certain it is a marine species (I left some above water are for it to go to in case I'm wrong). It has a black body, red antenna, and red tips on it's legs. How should I take care of it? If anyone knows about these species it would help greatly!

Can you post a photo of it?

If it was in a shell collected on a U.S. beach, with the exception of Florida, it’s 99.9% a marine crab.

Can't hotlink imgur photos, but the link does work and it is some sort of marine hermit crab.
Which Rocky Point? There are several scattered around. Someplace tropical would be easier to take care of rather than someplace with cold winters, due to the needed water temperatures.
Best option is to get some with a saltwater tank to take it. That can be a friend, fish store, aquarium, aquarium club, or even posting in local classifieds.
These guys will live a short while in a makeshift home, but eventually damage happens to their gills and they don't make it.
If you wanted to try to make it work yourself, it's not hard but set-up is pricey. There are some good saltwater forums that can get you started.

It’s a red legged dwarf, I believe. I had two tiny ones in with Roshi because my friend saw them at the aquarium store and Roshi ate them.
