Adding play sand

Post by Ashay321 » Thu Jun 18, 2020 11:37 am

Hello all! Starting a new topic now that I finally got my hands on some Quickrete play sand. Some members recommended using a 1:5 coconut fiber to play sand ratio. A few questions..do you have to rinse the play sand before putting it in the tank? If it is fairly dry should I wet it a bit before mixing it with coconut fiber? Should I periodically wet it, other than a daily misting? I do have a thermometer and hygrometer, just want to make sure the sand stays at a good consistency for tunneling and such. All advice is appreciated, thank you!

The sand is already washed and screened, so washing is optional. I don’t.

If you add in a coco brick per instructions it will likely be enough to wet the sand to diggable consistency on its own. You may add water initially if it makes you feel better.

Overall you can just add water as it dries out.
