Yeah, some of mine prefer to be underground. My two micro ruggies I see every now and then, but it's rare. They aren't molting, they'll come up for food and water but when they do they're pretty stealthy about it

I have a medium, two smalls and two micros in my 'tat and there's never been any problems. People on the HCA even have jumbos in with micros with no troubles. They're all together in the wild, so they should be fine together in a 'tat. Just make sure there's enough room for everyone, which shouldn't...

Don't fiddler crabs need brackish water? Or would they be okay having access to both fresh and salt water?

I'm not quite sure I understand how this person set their tank up to accomodate both the hermit crabs and the fiddler crabs

Yes, PP stands for purple pincher. As a general rule of thumb you should have 3 - 5 shells per crab of the proper size.

When I first got my E, Sebastian, he climbed to the lid (I have no idea how) and I watched him for like three hours to see if he'd come down. I went to the bathroom, came back and he was in the food bowl munchin' away. Silly crabs :roll:

If it's a PP (Coenobita Clypeatus) that's totally normal. Some species of crab are just shell shoppers! A have a micro rug who I watched change shells 8 times in one day. How many shells do you have though?

My Es were little angels for the first month and a half I had them But that all changed... There are now new craters dug in the tank EVERYWHERE fresh for me to fill in every morning. :roll:

I have a medium - large E, a medium E and a small E and when it was just them in the tank I barely saw any poo in the tank. When I got my two micro rugs, I lifted the little hollow stump decoration that only they can fit into and found a PILE of hermie poop
