I've had food mites in my tank or a long time - they don't bother the Crabbies & they clean up any bits of food left in the 'tat. I'm not worried by them at all, and only really see them if fruit etc if left in too long, other than that they are hidden. I can understand how they might creep some peo...

They are Thistle seeds-very popular with finch type birds, you get them in Canary seed mix. :D

I have all PP's currently, and I've found that almost of all the crabs I've taken out of tanks that were all sand with poor nutrition came in & stuffed themselves silly with the Coir substrate. Some then go on to molt, some don't. I'm not sure whether they're after nutrients, cellulose, or something...

I give mine Freeze dried & frozen-from the frozen fish food freezer at the pet shop. It does stink, but yes, they go crazy for it. Especially the fresh(frozen) stuff-they all come out & party for that!!

Hiya, I can definately recommend Beachcomber as posted by luvmycrabs-they are superb, and very cheap too!! I had a delivery this morning actually! :lol: Lots of nice shells, £1.99 shipping for up to 5 large shells, really well packed in bubble wrap and a box & shipped in 1-2 days. Can't fault them....

Don't know if this will help or not, but I had some Hermies arrive with Mites on before I knew to look for them(I was a newbie) and I had already introduced them to the main tank. The mites didn't survive, and I've never seen any since-apart from on new crabs-and then I bathe them off. They were all...
