Don't touch those crabs! They need to destress first, so give it a few days. Just by supplying food and water they'll eventually lose all fear of you. But really, don't handle them for a while, it'll only make it worse. When I first got mine, none of them would come out of the shell, now they practi...

I always put way more food in then necessary...Because it's hard for me to control the size of the fresh food... Each crab eats a different amount, so you'll have to use the trial-and-error method..See how much they eat and if you have leftover from when you made it just freeze it. As a rule I only ...

I only put small chunks in my crabitat, about the size of my pinky nail...They demolish it pretty easily, so I would assume they don't have trouble eating it.. Maybe scratch some off every so often onto their food... I don't think I've ever had a problem with it being left in the tat.. Although once...

At first I thought my crabs were picky, but they may not accept the food on the first time you put it in the tat...try different foods once or twice.. Mine really love cucumber slices along with blackberries, egg, eggshell, rose petals, sunflower leaves, blackberry leaves, chicken, cuttle bone and h...

I don't think anything is wrong, maybe offer a larger variety of food, hermits need a lot of proteins and calcium to molt if I'm not mistaken, and they might not have the energy to molt. Check your substrate and make sure it's deep enough for your largest hermit to bury himself easily.. (I'd suggest...

ISO
I personally don't ISO, because all I have is a 20g, and a small 'plastic crab keeper'..=/ So unless I'm cleaning, I just leave the crabs in their big tank...
I've only had one bad experience, but it probably happened because the crab was down for a molt and didn't have a BP

Well, I guess it's good they're molting , but until they stop you're going to have to hold off.

Fun fun...
Well, I was thinking..if certain foods like tomatoes and cucumbers are alright for crabs, what about the leaves of tomatoes.. Since hermit crabs have such a good sense of smell, would it be OK to put in some tomato leaves? They smell good, and I would imagine they're safe for the hermies... What abo...

Steam and chop these foods and then place them in ice cube trays. Try to have different mixtures, so one week do corn, beets and beet greens, peas, and carrots and the next time pick different veggies. You could even dice and chop some steamed shrimp in one of the batches. Honestly, that just made m...

I've noticed..
I've noticed the same thing! Ha, I always have kibble in there for them to eat, but apparently they prefer things from my garden!
Try putting the food IN the egg shells, it's funny to watch them devour the ins and outs, it's like an edible bowl for them!

I can't believe what I hear all the time! Everyone I've talked to, says that E's NEVER change shells, but I have 2 E's (Delios, and Artemis) Delios, changed within an hour of him being in his new home, the shell was too big, so he changed back into his old shell, then changed into a different one tha...
