Cool pics it is nice to see those coconut crabs up close like that.

This is totally O/T but you look like you could be a twin of a good friend of mine, I had to take a double take to make sure it was not her  :D

A couple of pics

Annie as she is known here just came up from a molt after I cleaned the tank and I got a good shot of her for you. http://i753.photobucket.com/albums/xx175/spidtat1/Decorated%20images/P1030835.jpg Since I got a good one of Annie, I thought I would get one of George too, since his buddie Fred just mo...

Thanks for the compliments and good vibes, out of curiosity I checked on the molter tonight in his ISO tub and he was out walking around with little bits of exo around him :D He is still a little pale but at least I know I did not mess him up to bad by finding him :)

Surface molt observation

So I have had my crabs for 3 years now and in that time I have had my fair share of surface molts. I know what to do now and not freak out and panic like the first time it happened anyway :) If you have never experienced a surface molt I must say IMO it is one of the true wonders of nature. It is ab...

Tips on dehydrating?

I always like seeing how small some items shrink when they dehydrate Watch what you mix together when you dehydrate though or you will get some funky smells coming out of that little machine

Eco Earth bricks vs bags

I agree I have used the bag stuff just once and will definitely use bricks. The bag stuff is nice for a second level though and that is all I ever use mine for anymore.

Oolitic Sand

I know quite a few people who use this sand. I believe the brand they use is Caribsea and it is a very soft sand as well. It is also an expensive sand, but it can be used an re-used many times over and baking it does not seem to discolor it at all and keeps the softness. I have thought about trying ...

Tips for Strawberry survival

To be honest I am not sure. I know the pre-made stuff is 12 dollars for 5 gallons, sometimes you catch it on sale for 10 dollars. I am just lazy and got tired of the mixing and find it much easier if I have to think less than required . Plus it gives my cat something else to climb on and jump down a...

Tips for Strawberry survival

I agree with all of your tips except I differ on the ocean water. I actually use the pre-made kind from Petco meant for salt water fish tanks and I have seen a dramatic increase in the use of the pool by not only my Straws but all others as well. Also I did bump up the temp a couple of degrees in my...

I would not see why not but don't be surprised if they never grow b/c the crabs will more than likely eat them before they get a chance to grow. Most sprouts and beans grow well too but again the crabs tend to eat them rather quickly as well.

Eye Regrowth

I just thought I would show how a crab can regrow and eye lost during during a molt. This is Pearl one of my E's I have had for almost 2 years just look at how much the eye grows with each molt and notice her color changing as well. Before 1st molt After second molt After 3rd Molt I suspect a couple...
