Yup. The red peppers will help intensify their coloring, too.

The shells can be boiled or baked. I leave the membrane in it, though. They seem to like it!

I'd forgotten about that one! But the link doesn't work....I tried it without the THE in the address, and that worked.

Well I'm just being a wiseguy here (so no offense MamaZelly) but would they find chicken, pigs or cows where they live or scrambled eggs in EVOO or peanut butter? Point taken! However, I don't feed them beef or pork, myself. Maybe an odd cow would wash up now and then, but not likely!! I figure chi...

I didn't say that it was bad...just that I wouldn't give it to my own little guys. In the wild, they'd be much more likely to stumble upon a dead bird or a washed up fish than a brick of cream cheese

I don't want to start anything, it's just my own opinion.

Since dairy isn't something they'd find in the wild, I'd skip it. Good sources of protein are most meats (unseasoned), seafoods, peanut butter, and scrambled eggs. My guys especially like scrambled eggs!

Even if it is safe, I'd think it would be VERY expensive to use regularly...

The crabitat might be crabproof, but I have escapes rollie pollies all over my house :x :x

I crunched one under my bare foot when I got out of bed this morning, and found another in the kitchen.

Anybody else having trouble with escaped rollie pollies??

I'm 99% certain that Shelldon has no idea where the shells are. That's not helping. I've got two soap dish shelle shoppes up on the wall, and since this is the first time he's been above ground since moving him into this crabitat (months ago!), he very likely has no clue. I'll dab some olive oil on ...

It's a two-fer!! Shelldon came up today, too! At first I didn't know what that yellow glob was in the corner, and as I got closer, I realized it was Shelldon, STILL in his painted big bird shell. That shell is so small for him, he can't even pull his legs in. When he saw me coming, he couldn't even ...

We don't have very much leaf litter here...I did find a few more when I went back to the spot that I had previously found them. We have 15 in there now!

Mishell came up!!

Apparently, she was disturbed by me changing the crabitat around right over her head..... But up she came, in her dusky purple goodness! As sad as I am to have disturbed her, I'm so relieved to see her up and about. I was very worried...She's been down for a loooooong time, and I had feared t...
