Re: The once a week fights...
LOL, unfortunately when I bring them home, I make up their gender. I've never seen them far enough out of their shell to be able to tell which they are.

Re: The once a week fights...
No sounds at all. I'm curious though how often this happens when I'm not at home or when I'm sleeping. I just happen to catch them about once a week it seems.

The once a week fights...
I have two crabs, a medium, Lucy and a small, Ethel. These two are always sleeping together, eating together and roaming around together. Odd thing is, at least once a week, Lucy, will grab poor Ethel's shell and flip her over and sit on her, or just grab a hold and won't let go. At this point, I ha...

I haven't noticed any molts with him. He never dug down in the sand, as far as I could tell. He usually never dug on the surface of the sand either. he is the less active of my crabs. I smelled a metallic odor on him yesterday, but he still has not moved. Right now I'm leaning towards the fact that ...

How often does a crab molt?
I have a post in the behavior forum and mentioned that one of my mediums has not molted in the 2 years I've had him and that is bad. Does anyone know how often they should be doing this?

Thanks for the great advice. I will be checking that thread out as well. Both crabbies have now dug in the sand and have ignored some of the new things I have added. Maybe this will catch their attention. :smt101 Will I need to bake or microwave the moss before I put it in the tank? In that thread i...

I'm thinking of adding moss....
I saw some beaked moss at the pet store over the weekend and thought I would add to a second level shell shop. I'm new to moss for the crabbies. Is there a certain amount of time you can leave it in the tank or do you have to change it out every so often?
