Ya know, I don't really have a 'setup' in mind. I did look around at nano-tuners, and the lights they have available are definitely very expensive. I just found one light-bar of whites/blues on e-bay that would only end up being around $80 US, but at that price, I'm afraid they may not work. The pro...

I have had this sort of set up for a little over a year in my 75 gallon tank, and it works great! The only problem that I've encountered is a recent cyano outbreak due to being ill for about 2 weeks and not being able to do the stringent water changes in the saltwater pool like I normally do. I had ...

Yeah, looks about the same to me..... Albeit not quite as bad. I haven't done the medicinal baths yet. So far its just been soaks in double strength Instant Ocean water and then covering it with honey (which he tends to eat off faster than I can slather it on! haha) But I think it's already looking ...

Actually, no..... There is about 15 gallons of sand in the bottom of my 'tat, and I have all but 3 of my hermies under. So, since neither one of the other 2 that are up at the moment have issues and I don't know exactly where the others are buried, I figured it should be fine. Should I really go dig...

Haha Thanks! Yep! VERY sharp.... He got me a couple of times when I got him outta the 'tat! So I soaked his BP in some Instant Ocean salt water that I had made double strength then rubbed honey all over it. It was hilarious because he kept sneaking bites of the honey the whole time! He seems t...

Thanks SO much! I'll try the honey and saltwater first, and order the medicinal bath just in case it gets worse!

What sort of 'medicinal bath'? Is there a brand name?

Hmm.... No, no metal at all. And Tank is actually one of the first hermies that I got. I've had him for about a year now. And the only other hermies that are up at the moment are Jack and Zeeb. Neither one of them have any sign of anything like this. Thanks for all the suggestions, though... I'd lov...

Big pincher deformed? Or some sort of disease?!

So, Tank has been under for about 2 months (ever since the move to the new 75 gallon 'tat).... He finally came out today, and seems to be moving and eating just fine (he finished off the better part of 1/4 of an apple :P ) But when I picked him up to inspect his bright new pincher, I noticed that it...

Moving to larger tank and need some advice...

My new 75 gallon tank is almost set up and ready to move the critters into, but I've had one of my crabs down for litterally 2 to 3 months now. I can move the others, but should I risk digging down to see what's up with Arlie? I have a general idea where he is, but I'm really not sure if he's still ...

Thank you SO much! I was afraid that the 10.0 would be too much!

I can't wait to get started on the new 'tat! :tater:

Is 40w 10.0 uva/uvb light too much?...

Sooo..... Ever true to the obsession I've developed, I purchased a 75+ gallon tank today... But in my defense, it was SUCH a good deal! :P And, since it has a light hood with it, I was looking on-line to the different lights to fit it. Exo Terra has a Repti Glo 10.0 light that is long enough to fit ...

I'm afraid my water bowl may not be deep enough?

I'm pretty new at this particular addiction, but it is very important to me that my critters are happy and healthy. That said, the more I've been reading, I'm afraid that the water bowls that the pet store suggested may not be deep enough. Actually, the pet store near my house seems a bit clueless i...

Begonias?

Does anyone know if begonias are safe for the hermit crabs to eat? I asked this question also at the Epicurean Hermit, and someone said that a source said they are safe for parrots, but have 'minor toxicity' level for dogs and/or humans due to their high oxalate crystal content..... I know several o...
