Re: Land crabs: Do they all need to be kept in colonies?

I did look into that, thanks soilentgringa. :) If anyone was lurking and curious about the answer: Found more information, still limited, pertaining to Halloween and Rainbow crabs(the most common type to keep it seems). Most people keep rainbows alone as they tend to fight if not kept in huge enclos...

Re: Land crabs: Do they all need to be kept in colonies?

I've been looking at Rainbow and Halloween care the most(as they are most commonly kept as pets), and from what I can tell a lot of them are kept solo as they are more territorial than Hermit Crabs. I was reading on one care sheet that they only had luck keeping multiple in an enclosure if it was 60...

Land crabs: Do they all need to be kept in colonies?

Hi HCA, Let's keep this brief. I used to keep crabs, had a really nice, established colony around 20-40 crabs big. (Didn't write the numbers down, kinda too late to check now) They died. Not sure how, could of been multiple different causes. Vacation and caregiver wasn't attentive as they claimed, d...

Re: Finding Old Exo

A lot of times when my larger crabs come up they like to bring there exo with them (UGH its DISGUSTING) and I leave it in the tank for all the crabs to munch on, but if its ever a piece of a crab(with meat and such), I try to remove it.

Re: Mixing Species- possible issues

I only have E's and PP's (From what I know) but the only aggression I've seen is PPs going after other PPs. :? never seen any other kind of aggression. the crabs getting stuck in exo makes so much sense though, i've had that happen a few times. come across them during a deep clean, help them out of ...

Minimum tank size for MHC?

Now, my mom has never EVER wanted me to get MHC ever since she learned they had to have salt water, because we've had very bad experience with salt water tanks. Well... Plexi glass?

so I've been looking at different lid types and I thought I'd get a plexi glass lid but I read on a couple of places that you need to cut holes for the lamps. is that true? If it is, I think I'll be going with a different type of lid.. haha

anyway, Any feedback is appreciated.
