If your sand is wet, I recommend removing the leaking pool immediately. You may want to dig up your destresser/molter if you think they're at risk of drowning. I can't tell how wet your EE side is, so it's up to you whether or not to dig. I usually advise against it, but this may be an emergency. I'...

Big MaC wrote:Why not use velcro?
I didn't because I have a couple large crabs and I wanted to be sure it'd hold. If someone has smaller crabs, velcro should be fine. :)

I just used aquarium silicone. No suction cups, no metal, I just glued it to the glass. It holds great, and if you need it to come off just use a razor blade to scrape the excess off the glass. I have one of those T Rex 'climbing backgrounds' (same thing, except I probably paid too much for it) for ...

Re: Tupperware Containers as pools?

Do you have a tupperware container as a pool for your hermie? If not what do you use? 2 tanks, plexi pools in 65 gallon, Tupperware in the 40B. $80 cost for the plexi, $2 cost for the Tupperware and a lot less time and headaches. Is it plastic or glass? Acrylic and plastic Do you have a filter in i...

Sounds like you'd be good. Now I'm wondering if I should've used an additional layer of aquarium sealant? Oh well, I couldn't get it to really adhere to it and it's already very much in the tank!

I don't know much about the PVC glue, so maybe someone else has some input on it.

Hmm know i am confused on what to use Sorry, I always write too much! I didn't mean to confuse! If I had to choose again, these would be what I'd be choosing between: -Custom cut glass with aquarium sealant -Plexiglass (acrylic) with acrylic cement Hopefully someone else will chime in and plead the...

First of all, I also want to clarify that maybe it's just me; I hear other people have had success with it. After I read this thread, my personal thoughts were well kgbenson is probably right, but how can all these other people have made pools with this stuff and not failed and I can't find this stu...

After looking at that food pyramid, I realized that I am not giving my hermit crabs nearly enough protein. I feed them nuts, but I realize they need meat and fish every day. That explains attacks on molters and micros that I sometimes have. I occasionally get raw shrimp which they love, which is av...

Yeah, I have no idea where it is. It's not in the top layer of substrate. I think Scrambles took it down under with her. I can see her through the bottom of the tank... but I see no salmon! It doesn't smell yet, so hopefully they'll dig it up for snacks before then. If I catch them all on the surfac...

Buried Food

I gave my hermit crabs a piece of salmon, they buried it, and then they went under too. Now I'm afraid it'll rot and stink, but I don't want to dig them up.

What does everyone suggest I do in this situation?

UVB Question

I am trying to prepare for getting Strawberries and violas some day, but I'm still new to crabbing. I want it to be perfect for when I'm ready. I know the Straws need a bigger and deeper salt water pool among other things, but I only have PP's now, so it's just a drinking (not bathing) dish. And I k...
