Surface molt

Last week one of my bigger crabs was acting weird shutting down if you will he was wide open, looked like he was sick. So I dug him a hole away from the populous and the next day he surface molted. I put a pop bottle tube around him to isolate him And he did his thing and then few days later wanted ...

Here's my hint about how i'd do it a second time

Take your plants look at the base of them. (the part that goes into the ground) and start thinking of bigger deeper units. get it dug down, and bigger than the crabs can move. My big tree center in the middle of my tank gets knocked around still lol.

I also think that if possible (i.e. all crabs are up), it's good to mix the substrate every month or two.
yeah I figured just turning the soil periodically should be beneficial
gardens get the same mold in bc Canada where I used to live lots of rain there

Some great sggestions people thank you :) I'll have to keep tryng things out till I figure it does the 5:1 ratio look like a mix I like having the clean soil and sand. Do crabs benefit from a wind source?

I've always wondered if rIgging up a computer case fan would be enjoyable

I JUST finnished a bunch of plexiglass work and I can say that you can cut it just etch it till it's a 16th of an inch down. Once you are ready to glue use loctite plastic glue it's just like super glue a small line down the peice and in 30 seconds that sucker is on there bonded then just seal both ...

Substrate airing

I was wondering if my substrate needs to be stirred up to prevent mold growth I'm always getting little white patches here and there like in a garden

I've seen the ramp style with the lip and honestly can't afford to really spare much more ground space so it's a 90 degree drop with a ramp

I've decided that maybe a 4" ledge would work. Or 3.5.
My substrate is 3" deep so half an inch I can make it ramp up to the ledge.

Alright quick question how deep should my pools be? My tank is a 30gal 12" deep and the space I've allocated for a pool is about 7.5"

right now I've set it up to be 3" deep but I have a feeling that's not deep enough

I'm making a 7.5x12x3" salt water pool
for mine and after making the box and not being able to make it fit the way I wanted I just decided to build the pool
into the tank so one wall and a ramp running along the wall
