Re: At what point does it become neglect?
About a year ago I had some motivation problems and sometimes went on 5-6 days without feeding or replacing water. Not to get too deep, but I wonder if I can justify that as being a mental issue. That is not why I'm posting this though. Sometimes when I'm super tired or stressed out, like last nigh...

Re: Crab is destroying/eating artificial plants
I had a plastic aquarium peice in my tank and I removed it. I started seeing holes in it and thought what the heck. Then I caught a crab eating it one day.

Re: LOTS & lots of new photos!
They are gorgeous! Are they all together? I SO want straws but I'm not confident enough.

Re: It happened again....
Another dead crab. The active one. I'm really sad, I thought conditions were great. I'm going to replace all of the sand and substrate and try again, but still have one (very lethargic) living crab. Would it be okay for them to be moved to a tupperware container or smallish (meaning smaller than a ...

Re: Netting
You have to be careful with the decorative ones. Might be chemically treated.

Re: Jumbo shells?
Thanks. Will check the out. I don't care if they're pretty as long as they aren't $20+ each!

Re: Naked crab, odd molt
I don't know the brand off hand. I buy it at Pet Smart and follow the directions. Like I said, in the almost ten years I've kept crabs I've never had one come from a molt like this. About half of my buddies are E's. I will see if I can get the temp up.

Re: Naked crab, odd molt
Been a little while. I ended up iso-ing the crab after finding him naky once again. This time someone else was wearing his shell. He's been perfectly fine in ISO. 1. What kind of substrate is used in your tank and how deep is it? Play sand/eco earth, pretty close to 5 inches deep 2. Do you have gaug...

Jumbo shells?
Hello. I have an adopted...what I consider a jumbo. The shell he is in measures about 1 1/2 inches opening. He has way out grown it. I'm looking at shells though and good Lord! If I can't find something cheaper I may have to adopt him to someone else.

Re: Naked crab, odd molt
I found a naked crab yesterday while doing some tank cleaning. The crab is an E and his exo is hardened. I got it back in a shell but the odd part is that this crab was a tan color and now after this molt it is almost white. And it has a deformed leg that is bent outwards in a sort of curve. I've b...

First successful E molt!
Yeahhh! Sideways molted and it's my first successful E molt. The five other E's that I've had over time have all passed away during bad molts/surface molts.

Re: Molting issues
I'm almost positive that they are being dug up and not molting on the surface. Substrate is plenty deep enough for the largest to tunnel and be completely covered and then some. My big issue is whether I think the remaining molter is safe in my main tank. I doubt that it's a good idea to have three ...
