boiling shells?
I have always boiled any new shells going into the tank, but is it really needed?
In the wild no one cleans the shells for them, so is it necessary? I received a new shell in the mail, and it just made me think. ha ha

Re: Hanging "Shell Shops"
In 10 years of crabbing, I have always had my shells in a hanging shell shop. I have never had any issues. They do tend to kick shells out of the shop from time to time, but no one ever seems to pay much attention to the shells on the sand. I also feel that because I have so many extra shells offere...

Re: Combining crabs from multiple tanks after deep clean
I put all of mine back at the same time. I just put them in different locations in the tat. A few in one cornew, a few in the poss pit, some by the water dishes, 2 in th shell shop, a few in the second moss pit. They did just fine.

Re: Temporary housing thoughts for deep clean
I just did my 90g a few weeks ago. I had 350 lbs of sand plus a couple of bricks of ee. What I did was take it out by the gal ice cream pail. I filled the buckets and my boys dumped them into the wheel barel for hubby to dump later. When it was time to add sand back into the tank hubby dumped them i...

Re: Salt water
They know what they need way better than we do. If they are using more salt water than normal than I would guess that is what the need right now.
I know my salt water dish is used way more than my fresh, although I am guessing it is because of the straw's.

Re: Chirping...is it always a bad sign?
I have had chirpping when there is danger, but also sometimes I think they are just communicating. I have 1 pp who chirps when he is all alone (doesn't happen often with my crew). I have only day 1 time that any of my crabs showed any aggression that worried me, and they were chirpping then. But mos...
