:) Thank you for the replies! I appreciate the input! Wasn't sure if the regular sand would hurt a hermie or not. Thank you. So far, so good. Tank is good, Godzilla is eating his goodies. We're all happy here! Thank you again and have a great evening! :blob7:

Another ?

Ok. Sani-Wash for everything in the dishwasher!! Yes, I really was impressed with Hermit Crab Patch! So helpful & patient! Godzilla is definitely happy with her new Kibble! We ordered a few different things and so far she is happy with everything. When we feed her, she is usually sitting in the food...

Thank you for the suggestions. I will order a fogger and yes, they are less when you order online! I was surprised! Thanks for the info. Right now, for some reason, the humidity is only about 73 in an 80* tank. Need to bring it up a notch. Got the order from HCP yesterday. Godzilla hasn't come up fo...

Thank you for the advice about the pet shop. When we got Munchkin, nobody was moving. We picked her for size. Susie wanted her out of all the others. I think she moved a little & she saw it. We were at Petco tonight & there were only 4. The tank substrate looked very broken up. I think I will wait f...

Thank you so much for the kind words about Munchkin! Yes, my daughter was so upset! She just sobbed & kept asking what SHE did wrong! All I could do was comfort her & hold her. We talked a LONG time. She stayed upset for quite awhile as it was her first pet. Thank you so much for your kindness. I ap...

Thank you for your response. I appreciate the input, alot. I'm going to add more sand this weekend. I have almost 4" now, but maybe need a bit more to make it 5. Need to add instant ocean & water to sand. Its getting a bit dry. Do you re-water every so often? Ok, tell me what are worm castings? Do I...

Storage

Hi Jcat. Thank you for the tip on ecco earth storage. Hadn't even thought of plastic containers! We have a small area in the front closet that hasn't been designated for anything yet. If we get the ones for bird seed, the square ones, will fit in that corner just right! Thank you for the suggestion....

Ooopppsss!

I'm sorry!!! I have about 40 pounds of sand in the tank. The tank is a 20" long. I put in about 2 cups of coconut fiber. Is this enough? Didn't want to make it too strong. The odor from the coconut fiber while soaking is really strong! I love the phrase 'slightly cooked choya' LOL! All of my food tu...

Thank you for the suggestion of the beach! That sounds like a great idea & I do have larger stones. I appreciate the input. That was something that I hadn't thought of! Thank you. I will definitely stay with the brick. Boy, does it make ALOT! We live in an apt, so we don't have alot of storage. Wher...

Now tell me.....was this raw or baked or fried (clogged arteries)? It sounds incredible that they were eating the marrow. I didn't think they would have enough strength to crack a bone! OMGosh! Wait til I tell Susie (my 11 yr old) about this. She has become addicted to crabs & this site. She is lear...

substrate

Thank you for your reply. I appreciate it very much as its a work in progress. We found zoo med hermit soil at Petco & PetSmart. It is compressed/expandable coconut fiber. Is this the right one? Also, found the honey link, too, last night! How interesting the responses were! Will have to look at bee...

Thank you for your response Silver Buttons. I've read that they really do drag the coconut fiber all over and into food and water dishes! Any substrate at all! I have a habit of cleaning the water dishes everytime they get something in it. Will probably clean them alot more! We've been using a shell...

substrate

Hi suebee, Thank you for giving me so many answers! This definitely helps us alot! Am adding another inch of sand, wetting it down. Will get EE. What kind do you prefer? We usually go to PetSmart. Do I mix the EE into the sand or just put it on top? Can we get bugs w/EE? We're still learning. Yes, I...

lots of questions

Hi suebee! Thank you so much for responding. I know I have alot of questions, but we really want to make a safe home for our hermie. Especially due to Munchkin. Do I need to take everything out of the crabitat to wet sand more? Probably good idea. When I mist the moss pit, should I wet the rest of t...
