Re: Post your jumbo( or biggest crab)
My big guys are under the sand right now, newest one requires a 2 inch opening.
It's not my big guys that try to pinch, my littlest ones are the fiesty pinchers.

Beautiful tank and kitties, funny how cats have to investigate things thoroughly.

Re: The Shell Project: Length vs. Opening
Thank you so very much for all your work, Wodesorel, Wolfnipplechips, and Mr. Wolfnipplechips; these photos and charts have been extremely helpful as I was a bit lost when I realized Moose has outgrown all but two shells.
He's close to jumbo-sized now...

Re: how do you get your crabs to not hate you?
I"m 49 with 35 hermit crabs, so there's no age limit to the craziness! Try hand feeding with some honey or peanut butter on a toothpick; you may need to try this 20 times or more with your shyest ones, but eventually they'll give it a try. Keep hand feeding, and over time, they'll learn to trust you...

Re: Crab changes shells several times even in a day
Hermit crabs are just so darned silly.
Sometimes, they'll change shells 3 times a day for weeks on end, then they find one they like and won't change for a year!

Crabs don't get stuck....except...
Hi, I've seen over and over again where hermit crabs manage to get themselves into and out of the most seemingly unmanageable and difficult situations, and I was a firm believer that they don't get stuck....until, little Lionel climbed into the cholla and was there for 10 days! No, I didn't watch hi...

Sorry a crab got eaten, but I"m glad you didn't lose Moya. It's definitely her, IMO, from the photos.

Tonight was a whole cooked crawfish, HCP's Tropical Punch, crab carapace and sunflower petals from wolfnipplechips.
Oh yah, almost forgot the moose poop! When changing the water today, I accidentally spilled some on the moose poop, and now there's three crabs fighting over it!

Re: Sunshine the Mangled [10/14 Photo of her whole!]
Seems like several of my post moulters have dug back down to recharge and recover after their initial surface appearance. However, your instincts are good, so if your gut tells you to check on her, then do it. You might make her grumpy, but it wouldn't hurt her at this point. Maybe you could place a...

Thanks for the information!
like to keep my compressus' in a different tank than PP's but it's mainly because they are big and aggressive compared to my PP's. Also, the E's dig a lot; but that's another topic.

Live mealworms, coconut, popcorn, and prickly pear drizzled with a bit of honey. They loved the prickly pear!
