Re: Moving with a molting crab
Thanks. That was my concern. We know where Osiris is, he dug right up under the slated wood piece we stuck to hold the water bowls so they can easily be moved. So I know when he molts, Ra could smell him because of where he is. We do not have another critter keeper, we do have a bug container (it ha...

Moving with a molting crab
We in a month. My daughter has 2 crabs. One had started digging and showing signs of wanting to molt. So we went ahead and set up their travel tank with 3 inches of sand and water and hiding spots (I was hoping to convince Ra not to molt until we get in our new home in June). Needless to say since I...

Re: Bought Hermit crabs for my daughter and one was molting
It is only play sand, and that is a guess. It doesn’t look like calcium sand but it really sticks to the crabs. Their water dishes were to small and other than really nice hides and non painted shells everything else in the tank looked like it came from the store as a basic set up. The sand was on t...

Re: Bought Hermit crabs for my daughter and one was molting
It had been at the previous owners home and it had deep enough substrate. We moved a water dish on the top layer and found the hermit crab with a partial shed and sand glued to it. My daughter did not believe it was dead and insisted we put it in a container to protect it. She is 14, done lots of re...

Bought Hermit crabs for my daughter and one was molting
Hi we have had hermit crabs before years ago. We had to give them up when we moved over an hour away from where we were. Since the hermit crabs had belonged to my daughter (she was 5 at the time), I told her she had to wait until she was a teen. Which brings us to the current situation. We found a 1...

possible molt
I think that one of my hermit crabs has been getting ready to molt for awhile. He keeps getting more white in color. I moved him to the ISO tank and am going to give him more calcium rich foods should I do anything else?
