Re: Woohooo!! Two females with eggs!! :D Got some pics!
That is so cool! I would take that as evidence of some really happy and comfortable crabs. I wish they had luck becoming full adults in captivity, maybe then pet stores and such would stop taking them from the wild.

Re: Is two enough?
Personally I like keeping them in groups. Someone I adopted four from had two that always tend to hang out together though (I notice this here as well), so I'm sure a pair is fine as long as they get along well.

Re: How to safely move a few blocks away with crabs dug down
I did not think about that, thanks for letting me know about those! I'd probably have to buy one since I don't think I know anyone I can borrow one from. We moved with two dug under, but it doesn't look like any tunnels collapsed, even the fragile surface ones. The others I took out and placed in a ...

Re: Hermit Crabs Storing Shells
Mine do the same, especially when the shells were out on the substrate. I haven't had that problem so much now that they have a shower caddy shell shop though.

Re: How to safely move a few blocks away with crabs dug down
My biggest concern about digging up molters is that they will get dug up again in the main tank. Should I set up a small ISO (like a 5.5 gallon) instead? I know my folks don't want too many tanks setup, and one of them is a lot more understanding than the other. The person that owns the house, no ma...

Re: How to safely move a few blocks away with crabs dug down
I appreciate the comments though. I hope, although I'm sure not counting on it, that they are dug up by the time we have to move them over. That way I could put them in a critter keeper with sand, then take some sand out of the larger tank to make it easier to move. I wish they all weren't so insist...

Re: How to safely move a few blocks away with crabs dug down
Thank you so much Wodesorel. I was offered an upstairs room to put them in when we move everything (and one) into the new house when the old one gets sold. Honestly, if they are all up in either tank I'll probably take half the sand out and put it back in once it's set up. Thank fully I don't have a...

Re: How to safely move a few blocks away with crabs dug down
Thank you so much! That is a huge relief, I was really freaking out! Now what about moving them to an upstairs location? Would there be a risk of tunnels collapsing then? We thought about moving them upstairs because of space, plus it stays warm in the small room in the winter with the heater on, an...

Re: How to safely move a few blocks away with crabs dug down
Thank you! My main concern was tunnels collapsing, even though we'd be driving slowly and carefully. I know it's going to take a couple of people to lift it, sand adds SO much weight to the tanks.

How to safely move a few blocks away with crabs dug down?
For financial reasons we have to move our stuff (the tanks and crabs included) to a new house. I have no say in this, the house is getting sold. The other place is only a few blocks away from the old one. How can I safely move a 20 Long and 10 gallon to a new place a few blocks away, with crabs poss...

Re: Crabs don't get stuck....except...
I'm glad to hear he's okay! I know once I had a small E get "stuck" (he could move but seemed afraid to) in the end of a cholla log for several days. I removed him from it and never saw him on it again (sad since it led to a moss pit).

I'm so sorry you lost her. E's tend to have a much harder time molting than other crabs unfortunately.

I'm so glad she is alright. I'm sorry for the loss of your other crab though.

Re: Blueberry crab behavior questions from keepers
As much as I want a blueberry, and it's awesome that you found one, Petland tends to be a really horrible place for animals. A big stir was caused by them at one point because they were selling puppy mill dogs claiming they weren't from mills.

Re: Anyone ordering LHC crabs for 12/14/11?
So they should be dipped in saltwater and a dechlorinated freshwater rinse the day they arrive? Or should you wait a day to let them settle in? I haven't ordered any but I'm considering it in the future, since I'm pretty positive I'll ever find anyone within a four hour drive of where I live is goin...
