HCA: Hermit Crab Association

Mine is easy to guess. I LOVE a lot of arts and crafts also I especially love to take care of my 27 hermies. Everything about me is in one big hobby room...crafts And hermit crab tanks! I LIVE in that room.

I have a large E named Captain Kirk. His buddy, Dr. Spock has been down for a molt for about 5 days now. Tonight, Captain Kirk started chirping for NO REASON that I could tell. I wonder if he misses his species buddy. They are the only two Es in a tank of 7...the other 5 being PPs.

I am interested in this question too gp. i have lots of oak trees, leaves, and branches as well as bark to use but I surely don't want to chance getting little mites in my crabitats.

There is a possibility that his new shell is irritating him. Be sure he has lots of choices to change again just in case. This happened to me and when the little guy changed again I took the shell out and it had a very rough place in it. Just a thought.

One reason they rock another shell back and forth is because they want that shell for themselves. Do you have plenty of extra shells in there for the aggressor to choose from?

Oh my goodness Kuza, my Es do that shell jiggle thing too! I have often wondered why. I suspect that it is because they are adjusting the spiral or maybe cleaning it out more... I would love to see if others have seen this. I have never seen it in my PPs.
