Re: mating season over?
All I know is my tank conditions were perfect and as soon I noticed the 2 huge crabs picking on this one I removed it, those vids do look like what they were trying to do to this crab. I tried several times to stick the crab back in the main tank and watch as soon as any monkey business went on I to...

I had tried to find out the sex of all my crabs cause all the sudden I had one getting picked on after he/ she been in the tank for several months, found that everyone that I could tell was male except one that kept hiding up in the shell and was the one who was getting picked on, I assumed that thi...

crab wants to be alone?
this going back to when the I had 2 crabs picking on one crab and it was all the sudden, and there was suggestion of that maybe the two crabs have bonded and didn't like this crab now, and I needed to get him in a tank by itself and then get a buddy for it, then maybe it was mating season, maybe I h...

Re: Should I check on my molter?
I have accidently found a molter before while taking stuff out of the tank to top clean, the e.e. was deep enough but they chose not to go deep! I also took a hut and covered them up and put e.e. on top, once I took one of their water bowls and flipped it on top of them because they were just starti...

Re: mating?
everything in the tank is fine and right.. when I put the crab in he goes up to this other and tries sit on top, does this bear hug then tries to flip it over or that is what it looks like and the other one is tucked way up in the shell and I don't let it get further than that. I take the crab back ...

o.k. when do crabs mate? is there a certain cycle, time of the year? I have been having trouble with these crabs and 2 of them going after this one for a week and 1/2 now, tried all sorts of suggestions from putting more protiens in, putting the shells in, more climbing stuff in and rearranging, som...

Re: I apparently have the Joker in my tank.
I have had crabs turn and kick other crabs off ledges and then turn their backs on them, like they are saying ha! take that! I have had crabs block entry / exit ways down from the corner caddy, they just sat on the branch and would move if an other crab wanted out, so now I make sure there are 2 way...

Re: My crab molted into a shell
he may of felt he was to weak to dig so he just went a huge shell where he felt safe, or he may of just felt safer doing it in a shell vs digging? crabs that usually go hunting and digging up molters are lacking things in their diet { check out foods list } they need fresh foods and meats, not all d...

Re: Weird Molt
I had a crab when it came up , was kind of sprawed out looking funny, almost looked like he was missing some of his front pincher or legs. but after a few days he straightened out.

Re: Crab changes shells several times even in a day
I don't leave my shells in all the time, I take them if they are not interested in them and then maybe in a month or two i will clean them up & throw them in, if they change fine if they don't I take them back out.. I alway make sure there are shells in there if I have molters come up
