Re: much anticipate JUMBO STRAWS! beautiful! *pics

Wow, how incredible. I wonder how old they are!

I also agree with the advice others have given that they would be much happier with more space and also much more pleasing to watch in the larger tank. : )

Re: LiveHermitCrabs.com

She's not awesome at responding to emails with questions and concerns, or communicating with you about your order. For me at least, she's my only option for buying exotics, so I have tried to be patient and order well in advance from when I would actually like the crabs. I hope that the ordering iss...

Re: New Molter Aggressive??

I'm not entirely sure what the situation that you're asking about in your original post, but I'd just like to note that you should definitely get your humidity up to 70-80% in the tank as the crabs need it to breathe properly, and you should try to have at the very least a couple of suitable shells ...

Re: Ecuadorians - a third friend needed?

It sounds like you might be at capacity for your tank right now, depending on your utilization of vertical space for second levels and what not. I would wait to get any more (unless you're planning on setting up another tank!) as the PPs will get rather large, sometimes quicker than you might expect...

Re: strawberries

My strawberries don't dig much. I find them to hang out on the surface more than pretty much any of the other species I've owned, which surprises me because everything I have read says that they're avid diggers. I offer a LOT of cover on the surface of my tank right now, though, which might have som...

Re: I think my baby resurfaced!!

They're crabs! It's what they do. :) I gave up trying to keep track of mine regularly a long time ago, lol.

If the crab in question has black pointy toenails and is covered in little furry hairs all over, it molted!

That's awesome! I've never had a crab missing an eye so I've never seen one get regenerated, but I just think it's so amazing every time I hear about it on here. :o

Re: Amazing Crab Survival Story

Wow...almost 20 days with pretty much no food or water? That's incredible. I'm so glad you found him before any more time went by. My lid has some holes that I have to remember to keep covered, and I'm always PARANOID that I'll forget one night, and I won't know that any got out until it's too late!

Re: A non-nocturnal strawberry?

I dunno...but I feel across all the species I own, some crabs just have different habits. I also have noticed that they'll go through phases of activity; day vs night, active vs not very active, etc. : ) Right now, my tank is pretty dead, while a week ago there would have been 6 or 7 running around ...

Re: Moe pushed it far enough to end up in solitary confineme

Oh man, I've had this issue with an E targeting specific crabs for extended periods of time before. He eventually calmed down and I never figured out what was going on. :/

Anyways, I hope the little monster starts to behave himself soon for you!

Great pictures though. :D

Re: Lost one of my new blueberries during a molt. : C

Thank you all. I'm setting up a 75 gallon tank right now, so I placed another order with LHC, and I'm thinking of emailing to ask for an extra blueberry. This just hits especially hard because when I first started crabbing, I had molting deaths like that somewhat frequently, and I hope I've solved t...

Lost one of my new blueberries during a molt. : C

So out of the five crabs that I got from LHC in the beginning of January ( 2 blueberries, 3 strawberries) both blueberries, and two strawberries have gone down. One blueberry and one strawberry have come up (the second strawberry just went down a week and a half ago). Both of my blueberries went dow...

I hope you can get him reshelled quickly!

This post has made me want to go look at pictures of nekkid crabs to familiarize myself with their anatomy, though.

Re: Molting or worse????

I'm very happy your little one is okay and was surface molting! As per the whole surface molting being an indicator of an issue thing, it doesn't seem like a crab would want to molt when not dug underground in his or her natural habitat because it would be much more vulnerable to predators, etc. But...
