New E's, haven't seen them...

I got 2 new teeny E's a little over a week ago. I bathed them, but did not ISO them. I put them right in the tank. That night I saw one guy eating but didn't see the other one and haven't seen either of them since. I heard that they dig a lot, but right away like this? They literally disappeared. I'...

Re: After Molt; Won't Come Up

Well the other night I did find a pile of sand in the corner from someone who came up, but I don't know who. There are 2 other molters right now. I smoothed over the sand since then and haven't found anything else since.

After Molt; Won't Come Up

I've had this hermit crab for a year now, most of that year she's been buried. I brought her home from the shore along with 3 other crabs. They lived in a 10 gallon home with only between 3-4 inches of sand (I didn't know you could use play sand, so it was really expensive to buy 6 inches of sand, b...

I use this user for other things so when I made this it was just the first thing I could think of.

Re: Will a new large PP beat up on my smaller ones?

I had 3 small PP's and then back in winter time I adopted 4 crabs ranging from medium-large and one jumbo. They all got along fine. I also soon then got a teeny PP too and everyone is fine together. After all that is how they live naturally on the beach. Lots of times it's better with a range of dif...

Re: When are your crabs active?

I have an odd bunch. 2 of my crabs are only active from evening on and all day they stay in the cave and snooze. The other 3 run around all day and all night! I don't understand, they are always climbing, drinking, digging, running, etc. The only down time I see them doing is when they chill in the ...

Re: giving up on names?

Sometimes their eyes can identify them. One of my crabs has red eyes and that's how I keep track of her. Color is also another way. I only have 7 crabs though and mine surprisingly don't change shells too often. I just thought of another way though. Maybe if you know a crab hasn't molted in a long t...

Re: I think I have my first molter!

It varies. If you just got her, she might de-stress under the sand for a few weeks, then begin her molt, and be under there for a month, or even longer. In general, larger crabs take longer to molt, but molt less often. I have heard some people have small crabs that molt for 6 months, and have heard...

Really? Wow! That's a long, long time. I hope she's alright because I don't know what to fix. This makes me feel a little better though, thanks.

really you guys think she looks good? ...well then I feel silly lol. I don't know she just looked fragile to me, maybe it's because I've only been looking at large hermit crabs for the past few months and they look so big and strong...I don't know. She just looked a little pale to me and I didn't wa...

Re: Didn't Molt Properly? Looks & Acting a bit Strange... PI

It's always about 80-85 degrees in the tank. I think my humidity gauge is messed up or something, I need to get a new one, because everyday I've been running the bubbler pool, have the humidifier on, put in new moss in the moss pit, and spray down the tank everyday, also I have tinfoil with holes po...

Didn't Molt Properly? Looks & Acting a bit Strange... PICS

Background info: My hermit crab Toodee I've have for a year in July. When I first started out, I had her and 3 other crabs all crammed in a 10 gallon tank because, well, that was all I had. At the time I also didn't know I could use play sand, and the "hermit crab sand" was way too expensive to buy ...
