Re: Hermit Crabs keep changing back to original shell
I normally take their old shells out after they change because 90% of the time theyre cracked or chipped. I'm not sure if that is a good idea unless if yuo know they are chipped. I would leave them in there for w while in case if the crabs do want to change back, because if they change back it mean...

Re: how do you get your crabs to not hate you?
All my crabs run in fear when I'm around except for my newest one. He will just sit there watching me until he gets bored.

Re: Hermit Crabs keep changing back to original shell
I'm pretty sure you mean turbo, right? If you have clean turbo shells in there for them of the right size, than they are probably just picky. I would like to see some pictures like kuza said.

Re: Climbing affected by molting?
I lost most of my sense of a liking for geckos after the lady at a petco gave us a "tour" of the place, and one literally lept off the wall to bite her.

Re: Worried about my hermit crab
Whoever told you fruit and vegetable is bad for them had no idea what they were talking about. Actually, they are way better than most powdered, pellet, cake, etc. food that yuo buy. I think that citrus is bad for them, though. The 40 gallon tall is way to small. Keep in mind, the crabs are only abl...

Re: Worried about my hermit crab
I'll see what I can answer for you. Keep in mind, I am relatively new to crabbing, so I would see what others have to say 1. What type of sand do you use? is it Calci-sand? If so, you shoud get rid of it. You can buy a huge bag of play sand at a home depot etc. for the same price as a pound of calci...

Re: Worried about my hermit crab
When did your crab molt? I know that sometimes they rest for a long time after molting, but I'm not sure about this. Did the crab come up from a molt? was it a surface molt? Also, I don't mean to scare you, but I think that a crab won't always smell when it is dead. Has the crab moved in these three...

Re: How can I tell if he's alive?
Two of my hermies went under for several months, and when they came back up, I saw that they had molted. Your crab is probably just fine. If you do start to smell something fishy, try to get it out of there in some way if no other crabs are under. I say "if no others are under" because if there are ...

Re: Climbing affected by molting?
^Actually, I'm trying to video my hermit crab right now. I saw him sitting on top of an overturned shell, so i thought he may be trying to find a new one. So, I set up a camera an am waiting with the hopes that he will change

Re: Climbing affected by molting?
^We have a red-eared slider. Just remember, if you want to keep the thing until it dies of old age, be prepared. We got one when it was the size of a quarter. Now, it is as long as a Frisbee, about half as wide. So, yeah. Just be ready. And back on topic. My crabs never climb anything but their log ...

Man, what can't the little guys do? I mean, I heard of crabs fixing an eye, but not regrowing one from just a stump! The little things are just amazing.

Re: Dug Under 3 1/2 weeks...
I wouldn't worry. I had both my pps dig under for several months, but when they came back up, I saw they had molted and they were perfectly fine. They may be molting like mine, in which case you should leave them alone. Or if not, maybe they are just not used to their new habitat, and are trying to ...
