Old escapee found!

A while back, I had a hermit crab escape, and another one disappeared. After I realised one escaped (we found it and put it back in the tank; it's fine now) I removed their escape rout. Now, months later, I found myself believing that the other died or was underground doing hermit crab things. Well,...

They flung OUT of their shell  I'm glad this one didn't do that. That would have been REALLY scary

Re: Jumping hermit crabs!?!?

There was no way it was a fall. He actually HIT the towel, whiuch as I said was about four inches away. And I am trying to come up with something to replace the towel right now. And the one that escaped before got out in an entirely different way. The wood was close to the thermometer, which he clim...

Jumping hermit crabs!?!?

A few days ago, I had an escape. We found him crawling around the bathroom the same day. He seems to be acting normally, so I assume he is fine. But I think he gave other crabs ideas, because my dad was telling me about another escape attempt. So, the way I have my tank set up, I have a piece of woo...

Re: screen name meanings? post here!

I wish I could tell you. I thought it up a looooong time ago for my username for club penguin (I think). Since then, it has been my name for just about anything in the internet. If you see sontron anywhere, it is either me or some sort of sound system thingy.

Re: I think I have my first molter!

I think that if it is molting, a worst case cenario is 6 mionths. But if it is really small, it may only take a few weeks.

Re: Crab hanging out of shell alive.

I've read a similar topic to this one, and the general agreement was that the crab was just hanging out. I doubt there is anything wrong with it. If it is responsive and can still move, than it may just be because that is how it is most comfortable in its new shell. Also, there could be something in...

Re: New Crab mom! Questions...

The crabs are fine most likely, they are probably still just destressing. If they are out at night, than that's great. hermit crabs are naturally nocturnal, so that is when they are mst likely to be out. Try adding a moss pit to your crabitat. It will help the humidity. There are also a number of ot...

Re: Guide to making a 10g Crabitat/ISO

Don't cover the whole top of the lid. Leave part of it uncovered and try uncovering different spots and amounts until you reach the perfect point when you have humidity and temperature right where you want it.

Re: Is two enough?

You should always have a large number of shells that are the same size as, slightly smaller than, or slightly larger any one of your crabs. If the crabs are the same size, than you should get even more shells of around those sizes, or else if they both find the same shell to be ideal, they may fight...
