HCA: Hermit Crab Association

Hi everyone, been a long time since I've been on here, my 105 gallon tank has been overrun with mites (the harmless ones; none on the crabs just in the tank) I have started a deep clean and was wondering how I should go about disinfecting cholla wood, and other wood climbing objects? TIA lovely people

I just got 2 more crabs today actually, and i just check for mites and if they look fine, i plop them into the tank with everyone.

Most of my crabs are active around noon for some reason.. Im watching a couple climb around the tank right now

none of my crabs seeem to want to escape, i dont even have anything on top of my screen lid.

mine chirp for the heck of it. some days its cute, some days incredibly annoying.

anywhere from a day to a month maybe. i dont think theres really any set time.

I normally take their old shells out after they change because 90% of the time theyre cracked or chipped.

My crabs all have different personalities too, my largest likes being handled/ likes to crawl on me, my smallest, is so incredibly timid. my second largest is such a spazz, he hates it when i pick him up, so he pinches me alot. My larger guys do that to my teeny too sometimes, but i think theyre just playing because they stop after a couple of minutes, i hear no chirping, and noones ever gotten hurt.

I have a 10gallon as an ISO for now, but i dont like using it, one of my newbies went down the day i got the 40gallon set up.... of course.

they may not even be molting, my crabs used to bury down for a week or so at a time for fun. Same with my new guy now, he digs down for a day or so, pops up for a few minutes to grab food, then digs back down.

two of mine molted pretty much in the same hole at the same time, and they both came up within hours of eachother.. i personally think they should be fine

well if hes molting or de stressing which he probably is, i think you should just let them be unless you want to cause more stress on them

My teeny decided he wanted to pinch me 5 times in a row... but because hes the size of my thumbnail, i BARELY felt it. Before Joules De Lorian passed, he gave me a light pinch, and he was a large small, it hurt abit, but nothing to cry about.
