Re: Any ideas???

well my light is only 60 watts so really, it's not even close to being like the sun so they ignore my day night cycle and go more by the sun light that fills up my whole house, and I have a very bright sunlit house. I assume Florida land crabs aren't used to 12 hours darkness, I. Summer they get 14 ...

Re: Any ideas???

Thanks, I always wonder if people catch that. Also a thing to note, my night cycle is only from 11 pm to 8 am and they seem to love it. My crabs are out all the time too.

Re: Any ideas???

My E's hang aroudn the top of plants and Cholla all day sleeping or moving to a new spot or shell shopping. My PP hides in the mosh pit all day. That's life!! Also, I have many high hiding spots and they almost never hang around on the sand. They are always up at the top of the tat or in the mosh pi...

Do the antennae grow back during a molt?

So I noticed my latest E is missing half of one of his antennae. He's still got one fully functional and long one ,and he's still got his 2 smaller antennules. But do these parts grow back all the time, or only during a molt?

Thanks

Re: I got pinched

I don't let them walk free on my hand because I've had them latch on before, too scared :)

Re: Should I move this crab?

I think they are ok, they live in a tiny shell, I don't think they can be claustrophobic.

Re: How often is normal?

Same for me, I've only been crabbing a couple months and I have 2 of 6 down, 2 already molted, 1 needs to molt badly but hasn't even dug down once yet. And then I have a new one. So it's very common for most if not all of them to go down soon after you get them.

Re: Digging questions

Just gotta wait. I'm also waiting for my 2 to come up so I can mix the sand and level it out a tad more. But I have a feeling Uno is going to go down to molt just as they come up. SO I could be waiting weeks before I get to mix mine up again.

Re: Digging questions

He could be either molting or de-stressing. Can you tell is he's coming up each night?

I would wait until you see him, then do it with them both in a safe location.

Re: Digging questions

I would wait if you're not sure where he is or if he's molting. Are you using all play sand?
