Re: Danys ?-Coenobita-breeding-thread
THX all! :D Amazing pics! What amazes me is how red they are, its amazing! Yes, amazing and funny, because my PPs from 2015 had been much paler at this stage. And for all some new pictures form today (day 96). The first picture shows all three crabs in the terrarium. The numbers are the order of the...

Re: Artemis, Day 14 carrying eggs
I've had three take shells and go to land. Two met untimely deaths (lots of pitfalls when you're that tiny), but one seems to be doing pretty well. Took a video of my setup and the little new guy to give a shot of size-perspective. http://maryakers.com/day-44/ That looks great! Congratulations!!! :...

Re: Danys ?-Coenobita-breeding-thread
Today (day 78) I put one of the small ones into a terrarium (60 litre/16 gallons (US)). It's hard to find it again! ;) This picture shows the beach-side. The red marking is the crab: http://landeinsiedlerkrebse.info/nachzuchten/20181030_1.jpg And a close-up: http://landeinsiedlerkrebse.info/nachzuch...

Re: Danys ?-Coenobita-breeding-thread
The one in the long shell changed to another shell. Two of them are mostly over the water-level now, but I will wait a few days before I transfer them to a terrarium. Two others are little crabs, still in the water and another two are megalopa in shells. Still three megalopa without shells. Form the...

Re: Danys ?-Coenobita-breeding-thread
First my update, then all the questions. Day 62 for the older ones: Only 11 left. :( 5 are still without shell and megalopa. 4 are megalopa in shells. 2 are little crabs in shells, mostly under water, seldom for a few minutes on land. Two of the oldes died on land. :headshake: This is one of them. T...

Re: Baby hermit crabs
Don't worry. Even with best condition and thousands of larvae only a few hundred will reach the stage of megalopa. And then they will eat each other, till there are some left.
So, you are very lucky, if you even have some at the end, in shells and then at land.

Re: Danys ?-Coenobita-breeding-thread
Quick question, any reason why you seperated the males from the females? would they breed at such a young age? I'm not sure, when the start breeding. I would like to know that, so it's not the reason. I separate them just for counting and because I have some crabowners, which would take some of the...
