Re: Crab changes shells several times even in a day
I boil the shells I put in the tank and periodically boil them to keep them clean. I have measuring calipers and have spent some time and money finding shells that are of similar type/shape of the shell he's fond of. I also filed any rough edges down until smooth and inspected the shells for holes o...

Crab changes shells several times even in a day
My largest crab has been jumping in and out of 2 shells. He really seems to like one of them but it's too small and the other one is just big enough for him to retract all the way into but for some reason he goes back to his smaller one lol. Sometimes he changes in and out many times a day! It's fun...

Molting again 2-3 weeks after already molting?
I have a small crab who successfully molted and surfaced on march 11th. A few weeks later around the first week of april he buried himself again and I haven't seen him since. Is it unusual for a crab to molt again only a few weeks after he already molted? I do know when he buried himself the weather...

My little crab survived! He surfaced last night and went directly to the bowl. He was down a total of 44 days.

Re: Molt seemingly taking too long
okay, knowing you had a crab that was small take longer make me feel better. I've been keeping a close eye on the other crab I have to make sure he hasn't been digging too deep. Sometimes he makes shallow holes in places but as long as I keep it warm he doesn't dig. I figured if the other crab dig h...

Molt seemingly taking too long
Before I posted this I combed through previous posts just to make sure I couldn't find my answers. I really want to verify if I'm correct. If a crab is completely buried, has a problem molting, and ends up not making it the tank will begin to smell even with the crab buried correct? I have a small c...
