Re: Shell change at last!!!

No, Jerry is still very much in the soft stage. I'm giving him several days rest to destress and build up strength. Actually so is Charlie (my jumbo who is also in the ISO tank). I've put several shells in there, we'll see what happens, I'm still worried that Jerry wont be able to get to any shells ...

Re: Shell change at last!!!

I hemmed and hawwed over the water heater for a long time too. But I wanted to make sure that such a large pool was not just ice cold. It's low enough in the pool that they cant actually touch it, because the clay balls prevent them from sinking in the water more than a few centimeters or so. Its a ...

Re: Shell change at last!!!

I took a picture of it but am having trouble uploading it. Jerry is all the way back inside the huge shell and the exo was actually clinging by a piece of fibrous material inside the shell. It totally looked like he was dead and disintegrating until I saw him curled up in the back. Really hoping tha...

Re: Shell change at last!!!

I have play sand as my main substrate, but offer a small amount of calci-sand when there are molters. I'll back off the monthly deep cleans, but thats usually when i stir up the sand and really re-wet everything. Even with the misting and the fogger the sand seems to dry out in places. And when I ca...

Re: E's are crazy!

I love walking by and realizing that I have a sinkhole under the food dish! I can see part of it through the glass and the dish is sideways in the hole.

Re: Shell change at last!!!

I have my 55 set up with a 2 gal circulating fresh water pond. It's filled with a clayball medium so the crabbies can walk onto it with out drowning. It has a small waterfall on a sponge. And it's that deep because the sand is so deep. I have a shelf up high that has a coconut substrate with a saltwa...

Re: Shell change at last!!!

Thanks Bridget! The peanutbutter is a good idea, I hadn't even thought of that. Will make sure to put some out when I get home in the morning. @Jenny, I have 17 hermies, mostly PPs but I'm not as good at recognizing the different species. This one (Jerry) was buried when I found him, but there was n...

Re: Shell change at last!!!

Hey I have a question on a shell change. I have a PP that was in a WAY too small shell when I adopted him early this year, I've been trying to get him to change ever since and he's had no interest in any new shells I've offered. Last night I did my monthly take everything out of my tank (I have a 55...
