Re: Frusterated, worried, paranoid? Buried for way way too l

I've heard that some small crabs can take a few months to molt. As long as you don't smell the death smell they should be okay.

As far as your crab moving... he could have already molted and is just waiting for his exo to harden all the way.

Re: Question for those who have moved molters into container

I would leave her in ISO for at least a day or two. I've never actually ISO'd my crabs so I don't really know.

Re: My big boy is molting.

They don't always change shells. Toni molted 3 times before he changed shells, Tini molted twice before he changed. It really just depends on how much they grow/what they feel like doing.

As far as how long it should take...it depends on the crab. Could be a few weeks, could be a month or more.

Re: Okay, now I don't even know if I had a molter at all. O_

One of mine molted in January and came up a week or two early (they usually go down for around the same amount of time each molt). When he came up his color was considerably paler. He stayed up for about 2 and a half weeks then went back down and molted again. When he came up after that molt his co...

Re: Worried about a Molter.

He could have come up, switched shells, and dug back down to hang out a little longer while his exo hardens up more.

Re: No iso tank help!

It seems like you've taken care of the problem but if you have another surface molt you can cut a 2 liter soda bottle in half and put the side with the top (with the top off) around the hermit crab. The bottle itself will keep your other crabs out and the hole where the top is allows air to still g...

Re: Molt? Pre-molt?

Mine definitely try to teach me patience.

They both molt for around 5 and a half weeks and they've both gone down for their molts within a week or two of each other. So I end up with an empty looking 'tat for a month every 4 or so months.
