Ahahah my boyfriend asked me what I do with them and he looked so confused when I was like, "I watch them."

Re: dumbest things people have said about your crabs/other p
Mostly a lot of "ewwwww!!" And people questioning my pet choices. I have 2 cats and they're so much more high maintenance than my geckos and tarantulas and crabs and snake combined.

Re: TOTE TUTORIAL~ 8D
The All Living Things conditioner is absolutely useless for crabbing. FMR's treat is okay but it's not a complete diet. Take a look at our caresheets if you haven't already. They explain much more than I could in one post.

Re: TOTE TUTORIAL~ 8D
There may be room to move but there is no room to molt and that is what is vital for its health. The main things necessary for a hermit crab are high heat, high humidity, appropriate fresh and salt water, a healthy diet, and deep substrate made from play sand, ecoearth or both. Skimp on any of those...

Re: TOTE TUTORIAL~ 8D
Ah, then that's still too small. You're gonna want totes that are basically the same size as glass tanks. You can only get like 2 inches of substrate in a tote that small. Mine are over 100 quarts each and I'd still use them if I could find totes that were 4 feet long and clear.

Re: TOTE TUTORIAL~ 8D
The pink sand has got to go, sweetie. If you use that kind, you're looking at spending a few hundred dollars to fill a tote my size to the depth you need and even then, it's still unsafe. What size is the tote anyway?

Re: TOTE TUTORIAL~ 8D
Its pretty bright in there with my lamp pointing at it. I've used the totes for nearly a year and the only issues I've had with molting was a straw who came up with half a leg missing.

Re: Coconut Crabs
Coconut crabs do taste horrific. That's why they douse then in hot sauce before eating.

Re: TOTE TUTORIAL~ 8D
When I moved, I dug those who were down (though none were mid molt, thank God) and put everyone in a KK. :p Though moving totes are so much easier, you can drop 'em and they won't shatter into a million pieces.

Re: TOTE TUTORIAL~ 8D
I have one on a dresser and another on the floor. When I just had one, I kept it on the same table as their old 30g. I can't see them as clearly as I can a glass tank, especially since I have condensation galore with these things but I can see 'em well enough. :p It's impossible to stack them on top...
