Re: walking funky?
I'm sorry for your loss. Having been through a rescue that didn't survive, I know it's tough - you want to help them out, give them a better life - but who knows what they've been through beforehand. Be glad in that you likely gave her a lot of pleasure in her last days - hugs to you.

Re: Finally, an E shell change after 14 months!
A funny E shell-changing story... the gal I adopted my two Es from apologized to me for the condition of Spider's shell - it was an old painted one, with a clay doo-hickey (the stupid cartoony things they add to them) that she'd tried to sand off (part of it kept snagging on plants/nets/etc). As wel...

Re: Ecuadorians - a third friend needed?
Things are definitely in vertical mode, with two raised moss pits and one shell pit - but yes, I've reached my limit for the moment. I do have a spare 30 tall tank in the wings, and just might create a E colony therein! We'll see in time...

Re: Chirping
The first time I heard one of my crabs chirping, I immediately turned, expecting to find a shell fight - but it was Godiva, just enjoying her saltwater pool. Talking for the heck of it...

Re: Ecuadorians - a third friend needed?
Currently we have just over a dozen in a 40 breeder (tall) tank, mostly small-medium PPs. The Es are relatively small (just under ping-pong ball size). I'll likely wait it out, as things have been peaceful, no shell fights, plenty of room to explore with different levels and moss pits. With luck she...

Ecuadorians - a third friend needed?
All right, folks - last topic of the day, I promise. :D I have two Es that came from an adoption, Eduardo and Spider, both of them quite much characters. They definitely do a bit of hanging out together - until Spider went under. I think she's doing a molt, having finally switched to a larger shell ...

Re: Adoption success stories.
I rescue/adopt crabs for a handful of reasons: I'm cheap, I'm a fan of recycling, and I can't handle the thought of supporting these little beasts being wild-captured and put through the stress of shipping/selling. SO... I keep an eye on Craiglist, and have a continuously-running ad on the site, ale...
