Re: On the glass!!! ???!??!??!?!

LOL I have a large PP named Cookie who also picks what I would consider to be odd spots to empty his shell - IN the food dish is one of them!!! And I KNOW it's him because 1.) I've seen him do it on several occasions and 2.) no one else's poop is that big! Crazy critters!!! :D

Re: Nice to aggressive!

Ah, thanks Noswad! I know not to put Stress Coat in their drinking water, but I had read that using it to bathe them was good (never done it myself - just use a safe dechlorinator). Yikes! Sorry to spread misinformation!!!

I also iso for at least 2 weeks.

Re: Nice to aggressive!

I'm still kind of a "newbie" but, did you bath Midori before introducing her to your main crabitat? I've read that sometimes crabs can act aggressively towards newbies that have that 'new pet-store smell'... A bath in conditioned or StressCoat treated water might not hurt... If you're very concerned...

Re: Freaking out

I went through a similar experience with a new crab. Curly (a newbie) "attacked" Bonkers (another newbie) twice causing him to leave his shell and go naked. :( I believed it to be a shell-issue and though there were plenty of shells in the tank, Curly was NOT comfortable with the idea of a shell-com...

Should I be concerned about this?

Ok, I'm not sure if I should be concerned about this or not... Or if any action is required... So some advice would be greatly appreciated! About a month ago I upgraded to a 70 gallon crabitat and shortly after being put in, my large PP, Cookie, went into a cave and dug under (hasn't been up since -...

Re: Shell war - what to do??? *UPDATE*

Good news! After Curly switched shells and spent 2 more days after doing so in iso, I moved him into the main tat and all went well! Everyone's getting along very well and Bonkers and Curly haven't had any negative confrontations! I'm so proud of my little babies for all getting along!!!!!! :crabbig...

Re: Shell war - what to do???

Thanks for the suggestions! I've placed a large shell order at naples, and for the time being I hit all the local pet stores and some craft stores and came home with lots of suitable shells. Curly is on his own with 20 shells to choose from. Hope that helps the little guy!!

Re: How long to iso for aggressive behavior?

Thanks so much everyone! I'm gonna give Curly a few more days I think... We'll see. I kinda hope Bonkers switches shells so I can just give his to Curly!!

How long to iso for aggressive behavior?

Quick question: Is it ok to iso a crab for 24hrs after it has been observed clutching a crab's shell while the former occupant looks on naked? Or is that too long? I bought 3 new crabs over a week ago and have had them in a 29gallon iso together. They've all been changing shells pretty regularly - t...

Shell war - what to do???

Some opinions here would be greatly appreciated!!! I purchased 3 pp's from my local petsmart 9 days ago and have had them in a 29gallon iso ever since. They've been doing LOTS of shell changes since coming home, and have 12 shells to choose from in the iso. The second day I woke up to find a naked c...

Re: minor breakthrough

Awesome! My guys still seem convinced that I am a possible monster! Except for Cookie, my largest PP. I've had my tiny colony (5 PPs) for about 2 months now... I'm assuming it's normal for them to take some time to de-stress and get used to everything, right? I am sure that I've had a least 1 molt (...

Re: Crabs under moss

Is Fluker's Green Sphagnum Moss safe? The package says "All natural moss terrarium bedding" but I just want to be sure... Any idea?
