Live plants

Where did everyone get live plants for their crabitats? I love growing plants but I'm so worried about pesticides and fertilizers that I've never put them in with the crabs before.

Re: New crabs, one wounded

Just to update- Joe spent last night buried, camo spent a lot of time exploring and eating. I even had him out for a bit and when i put him back he continued exploring. It makes me feel like he's happy enough. Hopefully he'll molt when he's got enough nutrients. George finally came to the surface to...

New crabs, one wounded

Hey guys. I just got back into crabbing. I bought three hermits from Petsmart on Tuesday morning. Camo is very skittish and shy. Joe is friendly. George is curious. Of them all George is in the best shape- he looks freshly molted with his black tipped and hairy legs. When i put them in their new hom...

Re: 10°f too cold

Thanks for the feed back guys. I was saying the same thing- the house is upper 60s, low to mid 70s I was thinking it might be a few degrees below the house temp because it's on a tile table. We're moving it tonight.

10°f too cold

Hey guys. I'm finally back in the world of hermies. Got a new 10gal tank set up and three Teeny PP's. My humidity is perfect and all three crabs have buried themselves. However the tank isn't hot enough. It's been at 65°F for about 12hrs now and i can't figure out how to bring it up. I have a heatin...

Re: How long does de-stressing take?

I hope Phoenix adjusts better. I think I saw him eat today after I held him a bit. After 5 or more minutes he'll come out and walk around. He get scared at the smallest movement but he usually recovers pretty quickly after he comes out the first time.

Re: How long does de-stressing take?

Shakespeare didn't make it. I found him dead Saturday (the 25th) night. So I had him for 15 days. He was still under warranty so we went and got a new one, Phoenix. He's really skittish but he did come out in my hand after giving him a bath and again when I picked him up later. He explored the crabi...

Good luck! I didn't see Connor at all yesterday or this morning. He's leaving holes all over the place!

Re: How long does de-stressing take?

I keep wondering that too. People say wait a month-4 months?
I dunno.

Connor resurfaced yesterday but when I woke up he was buried again

Re: How long does de-stressing take?

I'm glad to read this as my 3 guys have all buried and I haven't seen them for about a week. I was getting worried....but I will be patient. Connor buried himself yesterday. Can't even see him. At least Shakespeare choose a corner so I know he's alive lol Good luck on waiting. It's been 1 week for ...

Re: How long does de-stressing take?

Connor will be fine, most of us have made the mistake of buying a new crab to keep the lonely crab company, but the new crab ends up burying down as well to destress...it's a vicious cycle with these creatures! No matter how many, there will always be a time where someone is down. It's been said th...

Re: How long does de-stressing take?

Okay I'm glad it's not unusual then. Should Connor be okay even though his friend isn't up for playing?
