Re: Exo terra tank topper question
I'm not at home to measure but I believe the exo terra is 24 inches long by 18 inches wide. It takes up exactly half of the 75 gallon. I did have one that was 36 inches and I never tried to turn it upside down because it was being used by its self but I think you are correct. It did feel flimsy and ...

Re: Exo terra tank topper question (UPDATE)
So it has been about eight months since I put the exo terra upside down (glass up, removed screen and that side down) on half of my 75 gallon and I just wanted everyone to know it has worked out really wonderfully! I have been very pleasantly surprised at how sturdy it has remained (once turned upsi...

Re: Isopods
As long as the UTH is on the side of the tank it should not be a problem having plastic wrap on top. I did that (plastic wrap on top of screen top) in the beginning.

Re: Isopods
And I'm sure this goes without saying but I'm going to anyway, the lamp/bulb shouldn't be right up against the glass (might crack it) just close to provide a bit of warmth:).

Re: Isopods
I would say they will be fine without the UTH and UVB or at least mine are. I have some in my main tank with 80/80 (temp/humidity) and most in a 10 gallon ISO at room temp and low humidity. They love romaine lettuce, any vegetable or fruit (including skin and banana peels) and dried leaves. Honestly...

Re: Places to order predatory mite H. Miles?
Oops, I sent you the wrong mite info. It was the ones below. I got the 25,000 and it was way too much for a 75 gallon tank.

I sprinkled some on the substrate every three or four days until the container was gone.

Re: Heat tape
I tried heat tape once and it melted the foam insulation. Perhaps it needed a thermostat:)! The ultratherms have always worked perfectly!

Re: Sleeping Underwater?
I must say, I can't even tell you how many crabs I have taken out of my saltwater tank in the past but they have always been fine. It sure is nerve-racking sometimes waiting for them to come out!

Re: Question for those who have had "Problem" E’s
Thank you everyone for your replies! So putting all of your experiences together, it doesn’t seem like the size of the crabs matters (sometimes they pick on smaller ones and sometimes larger). That makes me feel better especially since there are still very small straws and ruggies under now. I didn’...
