Two of my hermit crabs are doing the same. I have about 10 extra shells in the tank. It looks like the largest Hermie is trying to take the smaller Hermies shell and he won't fit in it. Oh I just wanted to add that the larger hermit crab looks to big to get into the smaller guys shell. I am not sure who wants who's shell, Or if there is another reason for this behavior. Thank you Sue

I have 4 hermit crabs, 3 are above the saturate. Seems the last few days 2 are having a problem. The larger of the 2 keeps sitting on the smaller one. He won't let him move. It is very upsetting. Well I just looked up information on the hermit crab patch regarding the sand they sell. It is very expensive about $23 for 25 pounds and I will need 100 pounds for a 20 long tank. ok where should I put the thermostate? At the top of the tank or down my the eco earth? I am up in the air about the ultratherm and the zoo med heat pads. I have had good luck with the 2 zoo med heat pads for the last 3 years. I have not had to insulate them.

Oh I thought they need sunlight. I do add calcuim both the ones you put in the eco earth and sprinkle on the food. As far as the heat did worry about them being too cold.
