Re: Livehermitcrabs will have AUSSIES in November.
No other source for indos, either. *cries* Only other source for some species is from overseas, and they only do wholesale. Think outside the box. People can get together to do a wholesale order, or there may be ways to navigate how to import. Never throw up your hands and say it can't be done. If ...

Re: Livehermitcrabs will have AUSSIES in November.
As long as she's the only source that people have experience with and as long as she is the only one offering up a big variety of species, she'll keep getting business. No matter how bad it is at times. I think if some of us gave it thought and effort, we could find other vendors. Sometimes changin...

Re: LiveHermitCrabs.com
Business is business, don't you agree? I TOTALLY agree. From what I have read, this person has VERY expensive crabs that take forever to get shipped and sometimes have mites. Why is anyone continuing to order? Some of the wholesale companies are easy to talk to, will sell to an individual as long a...

Re: LiveHermitCrabs.com
Has anyone gotten a shipping update? Last time I ordered, my email came through the Thursday before the week they shipped. I didn't get any word this week. I'm feeling discouraged because I start a new position at work on the 15th and I won't be able to be home for them upon delivery. I might have ...

Please Suggest Edits for a 2012 Crab Caresheet!
I had made a recent find while looking over dechlorinators that some will remove the chlorine from chloramine and leave harmful ammonia behind. If one has chloramine, one might consider both a chlorine remover and an ammonia remover or a product which does both.

Re: Zoo med shells
Thank you!! It is not complicated, there are online instructions for 3D backings. But they can take quite a bit of time. I did not make this one, it was purchased from a young man in an aquarium community that had made it for himself and then decided he wanted a thinner one for his aquarium (this on...

Re: Zoo med shells
Paint on shell is different than paint on objects since the shells suffer so much abuse. They get chipped, and scratched, and modified by the crab. Because of this, no matter how well they are painted when new, they will end up chipping and peeling over time. You also can't force a crab out of a sh...

Re: Zoo med shells
Can you please cite some papers that say something about paint and digestion? Crabs are notorious for eating everything and I imagine some of the accessories such as cholla may be nibbled on but indigestible. Seriously, I would like to see the researched real deal. If you are saying that some chemic...

Re: Zoo med shells
Could you please elaborate? I would not use painted shells, but there are all sorts of paints for various things that might find their way into a crab's home, many are non toxic and I believe lead is no longer used as a component of paint. So please say something about the nature of harm from using ...
