Huge Goodwill score.
I try to buy either 50% or more on sale for new item (usually Walmart) or garage/yard sale or thrift stores. Unfortunately the majority of thrift stores close to me are not very good but every now and then I find something I like for a price I can live with. A lot of the time I find things at yard s...

Humidity of tank when I first get crabs
The best way to vary your humidity that I can think of is to have your substrate moist (sandcastle consist so it will hold together) and start with your lid or in my case the plastic wrap on my lid opened where there is more air flow coming in and out then towards the end of a week close it off a li...

tank, how to get clean
Not sure about the sealant. I would say if its still in good condition just leave it. If its not i'm pretty sure I read it has to be aquarium sealant. As far as cleaning goes you can use vinegar to get the mineral deposits off then rinse really well. Then fill up with a weak bleach solution and let s...

Sounds like your doing the best you can. If I remember right somewhere here there is a pamphlet version of basic crab care. You could see if your allowed to print some out to bring in for handout with crab purchase.

It never hurts to check on insurance rates every few years. Check with different companies to. Its easier to acquire a printout of the insurance coverage you have when doing comparison shopping so you know your getting the same coverage and not less. Don't do it online though.Don't tell your mortgag...

Wow that's crazy to me that its so much harder to find a place that accepts pets. Here there are places that don't do pets, some limit how many or certain breeds, and others are just what ever as long as they don't completely destroy everything. There is usually a fairly good mix of them open, somet...

Molting-having trouble shedding exoskeleton
I have small dishes that are about an inch deep with no sponge in them one fresh dechlorinated and the other salt dechlorinated. I have read where some of our members do have sponges but keep them clean/sterile and some just put it in a drier portion of the tank to be eaten.I have had my crabs since...

Crabs can't drink from a sponge. They might eat it but they get little drops of water on their claws to suck up when drinking. Be very careful with sponges in water because if not sterilized frequently they harbor lots of bacteria which can make your crabs sick. You can sterilize it by boiling it or...

Is there a specific reason that you and your mom don't want to move to a different house with cheaper payments and maybe an easier location for you to find odd jobs to do?Not to sound insensitive, but maybe that would work out best in the long run.Hoping for the best for you and your family. Just ha...

Most peels are fine if you are using organic. There is another list in with one of the food list that show different fruits and veggies that are high in pesticide use that you want to avoid and always go organic. If they're not on that list and you wash them off good its usually ok if its not organi...

What would be too big for a hermit carb tank?
Then its really just up to you what you put them in. I think the E's require slightly more heat than the pp's have to have, so keep your tank closer to 80.
