Re: Crabs taking really long to surface molt

it really depends on the tank conditions. If they are really good, then I dont think they would do it again,

Re: Crabs taking really long to surface molt

Surface molts can be tough. It usually means something isnt quite right in the tank, but sometimes its just a weird thing that happens. I have one that just surface molted two days ago, and everything in the tank it fine, and hasnt changed really since I got them lol and nobody can figure out why he...

Re: Crabs taking really long to surface molt

Surface molts can be really stressful on them, and it depends on how big he is. If the exo is all off (it should be, it really only takes them like an hour), then it usually takes about 10 days for their new exo to harden and by then they could be ready. Has he eaten allof his exo yet? If its been 3...

Re: Reptitherm UTH Question

I have a 40 breeder and I have the whole back covered. The one you bought might be too long, because the gallon size determines how large they are. If it fits, I would try just leaving it on and see how hot it gets. I have two on the back of my tank, and I usually only have to use the bigger one bec...

Re: Molting or dead?

I would leave him until you smell a definite death smell, because it takes them at least 10 days to harden their exo, and by moving him if he is alive, it will stress him out and could cause death.

Adoption!

So yesterday I contacted a lady on Craigslist about some hermit crabs that she was selling with their 10 gallon tank and all supplies for 50 bucks. Since I dont need the supplies, I asked her about just adopting out the crabs. To my surprise, she said yes and we agreed on a place to meet. She had 3 ...

Planting seeds?

What kind of seeds, besides Chia seeds, can I plant in my crab tank? I wanted to try some easy things first, but I wasnt too sure what was safe plant wise.
Thanks!
