flex seal?

I'm looking into building a vertical habitat from an old curio cabinet and I've been trying to find a way to waterproof wood that's safe and non-toxic, but also won't set me back a ton of money. I've heard that liquid rubber is safe for waterproofing wood and I found this stuff called "flex seal" th...

Re: creative ramp ideas for deep watering holes???

I love when people ask questions about built-in pools, because that means I get to show off mine! http://i1323.photobucket.com/albums/u585/JACKHAGGETT/IMG_2965_zps856dd977.jpg This is one of my built ins. They're each 2.5 gallon aquariums and the ramps are bird toys that I found at petsmart for only...

Re: Transition Tank for Breeding Project

Thanks! I made it using google docs :p Freshwater's gonna be in a little cup up on the substrate. The smaller aquarium will be a 2.5 gallon and I haven't decided what size the larger one will be (probably a 20 something). Thanks for the input!

Transition Tank for Breeding Project

The view of the aquarium is from the side with a smaller, sponge-filtered aquarium inside of it and substrate sur...

Re: Summer Research

And whoops, sorry wode! I missed your post there! Do you think it would help to increase my population size? I know this is a super risky experiment to be working on, but I feel like it's important and I'll have a lot of time on my hands this summer and the next that I could use to contribute to the...

Re: Summer Research

Thanks for all the input! I've had mine for years now, but I only currently have two boys that will definitely not mate  . I'm hoping over the summer that I'll be able to introduce a new colony of 20 (10 males, 10 females) into a 150 gallon with filtered freshwater and saltwater tanks and have ...

Re: Summer Research

Yep, I've read through all of these threads. I was looking more for any helpful tips that anyone who has tried and failed or succeeded could give me (what kind of containment they used for the zoea, what timeframe each of the stages took, what they fed the zoea, etc.)

Summer Research

Howdy guys! My name is Jack and I'm a Biology major with a focus in general Zoology. I'm thinking about doing a summer research project on the successful captive breeding of PPs and I was wondering, do any of you who have already gotten involved with these projects have any tips for me? What worked ...

Moving with molters

I need help. We are moving soon and lately my hermit crabs haven't been digging at all or showing any signs that they might be molting soon, but one of them dug and has been down for a while now (I'm assuming) to molt. We are moving in a week and the tank is 40 gallons, so I'm assuming there's no wa...

Aquarium Cover???

OK, I need some help. I've got a standard 36" long 40 gallon breeder that I got on craigslist, but unfortunately it doesn't have a lid. Right now I have an oversized piece of glass on there, but I was wondering, what is a simple and cheap solution to building or buying a lid for cheap? Thanks!
