The dishes are hard plastic (they're the white ones in the picture). It is possible but it doesn't really seem likely since everyone else was climbing the walls. This crab just tried to run when the lid opened and coiled when I reached for him. After that he wasn't well. I don't think the pools are ...

Mine escaped only once so far. He managed to get out, down my 4 foot tall dresser and did who knows what all day. But I found him in my suede high heel, I guess he missed me...or my feet?

Tonight was a slice of carrot, ground up cuttle bone, crushed almonds, and a dash of terra fauna commercial food. He sure is loving those almonds.
