Tank lid coverings?
In the past I used plastic wrap on the lid to help keep humidity in. That was before I got my 3rd cat whose obsession is plastic. Any advice for using something besides plastic wrap? What does everyone else use?

I know I need to treat the water and dechlorinate, but can I use tapwater or should I use bottled water?

Hi again!
Hello! I kept crabs for 7 or 8 years. When my last one died a few years ago, I said I was done. Well, I got a hermit crab yesterday so I guess I’m back at it.
I just wanted to reintroduce myself. I’m Tara and now the proud owner of a Purple Pincher named Echo.

Re: Conflicting info on blue E. Help?
Wow! The blue and yellow ones are beautiful! What do you feed your crabs that could be contributing to their blue color? I have a PP that is now my biggest, her entire body is a deep dark purple. Here she is: http://s23.photobucket.com/user/Doom_Song/media/monstereyesbest.jpg.html?sort=3&o=7 Will sh...

Re: Conflicting info on blue E. Help?
Wow..those blue E's are amazing. Here is a clearer picture of her. We named her Vesper. http://s23.photobucket.com/user/Doom_So ... sort=3&o=0
Her blue is no where near the blue of those E's sugar posted. Thanks for letter me know! She looks like she might end up gray then?

Conflicting info on blue E. Help?
The E I got yesterday is blue. Here is a picture, I don't have a better quality one up yet: http://s23.photobucket.com/user/Doom_Song/media/blue.jpg.html?sort=3&o=0#/user/Doom_Song/media/blue.jpg.html?sort=3&o=0&_suid=136777077320603949549990308499 Her legs are tinted an odd shade of blue and there ...

Re: Your MASSIVE dream tank (fun idea-sharing)
Well, they are a little more affordable at the petstore. Actually, they have a ruin-like looking bridge right now that was about 10 bucks. The small one they have (It was the one I got when I only had Salazar, but her big butt has gotten too big for any one else but her to fit under it) was maybe 5 ...

Re: Your MASSIVE dream tank (fun idea-sharing)
I'd like a huge glass tank, with two decent sized crab sized pools in it for fresh and salt water. I'd want fake plants in it, like those mini trees for climbing. Some of these Greek Ancient Ruin hideaways that I've had my eye on for like, months. And a long length food dish, maybe 4 or 5 inches lon...

Re: What are these and does anyone have one?
Yeah, I wasn't considering getting any until after I graduated and we got our apartment in December. Sounds like they are a huge undertaking, flutinkat! I might just stick with PPs and E's, LOL. Maybe a couple years down the road when I can be 100% certain I'd have the means to take on caring for an...

Re: What are these and does anyone have one?
Yeah, if they get pretty big, I'll totally wait till I have our apartment and a bigger set up. Salazar is strolling her way to getting big, but I think she has awhile before she gets really big.
How quickly do they grow? Like if you get a tiny one, how quickly do they get big?

Re: What are these and does anyone have one?
LHC is where I think I saw them, actually. They are so gorgeous! They look like they get big though. I'll have to ask Lauren how she likes having them! I think I'd be too scared to branch off into more exotic species right now, but I've had a thought in the back of my head about getting a Viola or n...

Yeah, that's what I meant, lol. Are they rare? I haven't seen them mentioned much around here.
