My biggest worry is the box. Could only find a 36x12x12. So it had the height I needed, but I wanted something flatter.
Arriving cracked isn't a worry to me, for some reason. But hoping that doesn't happen. Have the box stuffed with bubble wrap and shipping paper

Re: Pinkies were a hit!
The snake ended up passing suddenly, which probably explains why it wasn't eating. So no moee pinkys. I ended up adopting a year old corn who's eating small mice. Just a tad too big to give to the crabs
I could only imagine how it would look after they were done...

Re: Can I move my crabitat with a crab buried?
I've moved an entire 40 gallon to a new house while crabs were under. As long as the crab can't get dug up, it should be fine

Re: I realise that this may be a strange or stupid question.
Somewhere under my substrate is a nice 1 1/2 opening jade turbo I got for my jumbo in Hawaii...I wish I had put it in the shell shop. I definitely learned my lesson and now I don't keep shells on the substrate. My thought was that it would be too big to be buried. Oh, how I was wrong because it disa...

Re: Pinkies were a hit!
True. My 15 year old male corn snake is on his annual Spring hunger strike, which lasts 2-4 months, so I know the feeling! I was thinking maybe you had a hatchling and I know the soap trick has worked for many people. Dunno why. I have a 5 month old corn. Not sure the gender yet. I looked into the ...

Re: Pinkies were a hit!
Good to know! Re getting your snake to eat: Have you tried dipping your pinkies into a dilute mixture of really hot water with a couple of drops of Ivory or blue Dawn dish soap? Snakes sometimes just don't eat. I'm not too worried about it at the moment. I prepare them the exact way each time. The ...

Re: Going on Vacation
I'd personally be fine with leaving them for two weeks, but that's me. I've done it before. I just make sure there's a pool of water and that the humidity is correct. I don't use a heater and I got rid of my bubblers, so theres no power to the tanks to worry about. Hermit crabs are bottom feeders. I...

Pinkies were a hit!
The crabs love the pinkies my snake hasn't been eating! They've had one every week for the past 3 weeks now... Darn snake hasn't eaten anything:/ Nothing to be worried about, just annoying. I would rather have the snake eat it then give it to the crabs, but it's better then throwing them out, I supp...

Re: Flavored vinegars??
I know cleaning with vinegar is okay, its a ton better than ammonia and soap, but they aren't licking the glass lol.and if they are id like to see how they manage that. But even if itd just tossed in a fruit medley type thing it wouldn't be okay? I'd say go for it. It's not deadly. It smells, and t...

Re: Flavored vinegars??
I've used apple cider vinegar to keep the color on apples and bananas while dehydrating foods for the crabs. I'd say it's safe in that matter

Re: Substrate mix-up
I don't think it's possible to have sand too compacted to dig in. But I wouldn't know since I choose not to use it. The sand, and eco earth alike, will compact naturally though.
As long as it's the correct consistency, then it sounds like you're doing it right~

Re: Substrate mix-up
I personally never mix my substrate up. But honestly, I have been meaning to do it since it's been two years since I've added it to the tank. So I'd say every couple years then myself. But I wouldn't really worry about trying to mix it around. I also use Eco Earth, not sand, which naturally decompos...
